20 Jun Texas Disposal Systems Wins Keep Texas Beautiful Award

Texas Disposal Systems (TDS) was honored this year with the first place award in Keep Texas Beautiful’s Ebby Halliday and Maurice Acers Business and Industry category. TDS has been a longtime supporter of Keep Texas Beautiful and local affiliates who work so hard to keep our state and communities clean.  

Since its inception, TDS has shown a commitment to preserving the quality of the local environment. “Our dedication to litter reduction and properly managing our waste is ingrained in the company,” says TDS Marketing Director Jennifer Gregory. “We see environmental stewardship as an obligation to the community and to our neighbors.” The results of this mission can be seen at their Austin area facilities, which employ a staff tasked solely with keeping not only the premises clean, but the surrounding roadways as well.   The devotion to ecologically sound practices is demonstrated in TDS’s recent partnership with Four Seasons Austin. TDS collects recyclables and food waste from the restaurant and hotel rooms, and converts the food scraps into Garden-Ville brand compost that the hotel uses on its landscape. 

“When you visit TDS’s Exotic Game Ranch, you would hardly know there was a landfill right next door,” recounts Cathie Gail, Executive Director at Keep Austin Beautiful. TDS takes pride in the cleanliness of their facilities.

You can find TDS’s logo on the eco-stations positioned around the Livestrong Austin Marathon, ACL Music Festival, Circuit of the Americas track, and Auditorium Shores during SXSW, among other events. “We make the choice to not litter very easy, and the choice to recycle or compost instead of throwing away these reclaimable materials even easier,” Gregory adds. This announcement arrives hot on the heels of TDS’s award in the large business category from RecognizeGood® Ethics in Business Awards.
