25 Mar Repurposed T-Shirt Tote
I have a few t-shirts I don't wear anymore that I really don't want to get rid of. I am pretty fond of this print in particular so I upcycled the shirt into a tote…here is how I did it: 1. Lay out the shirt and cut off 5 or so inches of the bottom. Cut off neck, and sleeves then continue cutting straight down. You should have three completely separate pieces of fabric that will be used to make the bag: the front of the bag, the back of the bag and the shoulder strap. 2. Round off the edges a little at the bottom. 3. Put both front sides to where they are facing each other and pin together only along the outside edges, sew. *Don't sew the flat pieces together at the top where the shoulders had been…that is where you are going to sew the strap. 4. Cut the fabric that was at the bottom of the shirt once to make one long piece, this will be the strap. 5. Flip the bag to where the correct sides are facing out and pin the strap to the flat pieces. You may have to cut the width of the strap for it to fit properly. Sew together and you are done!
