Interested in learning more about climate change and its effects right here in Texas? Then check out the next “Hot Science – Cool Talks” event on Wednesday, November 29th at 8pm at the Paramount Theatre.

 

The topic of discussion will be Planet Texas 2050, a new research initiative from the University of Texas aimed at predicting future scenarios for Texas, given the dual stressors of weather extremes and rapid urbanization.

 

Guest speakers will include:

  • Majora Carter – Urban Revitalization Strategist, Peabody Award Winning Broadcaster
  • Dr. Katharine Hayhoe – Director of the Climate Science Center at Texas Tech University
  • Dr. Michael Webber – Deputy Director of the Energy Institute at UT
  • Evan Smith – CEO and Co-founder of The Texas Tribune
