NATiVE is pleased to announce that it received an award of excellence from the Austin Chamber of Commerce at the 15th annual Great Austin Business Awards. NATiVE received the Intel Environmental Responsibility & Sustainability Award in recognition of a business that demonstrates commitment to environmentally sound practices.

The awards, presented by the Austin Chamber, recognize local area businesses and organizations for achievements, community contributions and milestones. It is one of the largest business events in Central Texas, bringing together 1,000 business leaders, entrepreneurs, organizations, government officials and regional chambers.

About 300 companies were nominated for the Austin Chamber’s Business Awards. The winners were selected by an independent panel of judges except for this year’s Most Uniquely Austin Award which was selected by the public.

Energy efficiency, recycling, an reducing carbon emissions are part of NATiVE’s core values that create the foundation of the business. NATiVE not only build homes that are highly efficient, but promotes the production of clean energy, continuing to carry these principles into their business structure as they recycle all material in their warehouse, use a non-commuting structure for employees, and use locally sourced biodiesel to power their truck fleet.  In 2013, NATiVE was awarded the Gold level Austin Green Business Leaders for both internal and external promotion of sustainability measures.

Locally, NATiVE holds two seats on the Solar Austin board and has been active in expanding solar goals for the City of Austin. NATiVE has helped spearhead the development of the Local Solar Advisory Committee (LSAC) which developed recommendations for local solar goals in Austin. NATiVE has also been active in lobbying for larger renewable goals in the 2014 update to the Austin Energy Resource, Generation, and Climate Protection Plan to 2020.
