Looking at the TxLege on World Water Day

Water Droplet

What's Inside...

Today is World Water Day, an official United Nations holiday dedicated to taking action on the global water crisis. Worldwide, 1.8 billion people use a source of drinking water contaminated with feces, putting them at risk of contracting cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and polio.

In Texas, several local environmental advocacy organizations are honoring the day with Texas Water Day at the State Capitol. They’ll be lobbying the Texas Legislature, asking elected officials to support bills with strong environmental protections for Texas.

We talked about all of this and more on last week’s Shades of Green radio show with special guest, David Foster, statewide program director for Clean Water Action Texas. Listen to the podcast above for all the latest on Texas Water Day, as well as a roundup of some of the environmentally-friendly (and not-so-friendly) bills currently making their way through the Texas Legislature.
