Cap Metro has been looking for public input lately in development of it’s Connections 2025 plan. Once complete, the plan will help to guide Cap Metro’s service changes and development over the next five years.
Included in Connections 2025 is a comprehensive service analysis, identifying Cap Metro’s strengths and weaknesses. Details from the analysis were recently released.
Key findings include:
- Routes that run more frequently are more productive, with more riders per hour of service.
- Since 2000, Cap Metro’s costs to provide service have increased, while ridership has actually decreased.
- Over 35 percent of daily ridership occurs on Cap Metro’s five most popular bus routes, which means that improvements on these routes would benefit a large amount of riders.
Part of Connections 2025 also included an online public opinion survey, which received nearly 5,000 responses. The top picks for improving Cap Metro’s service were increased frequency and additional bus routes. In a blog post about the survey, Cap Metro said that, “our challenge is to weigh both which are generally incompatible, to find the best solution.”
Additional results from Cap Metro’s Connections 2025 analysis, along with some high level recommendations for future service improvements, will be presented at several upcoming open houses. A full list of dates is available here>>
