07 Mar HOAs vs Homeowner’s Request for Solar Systems Discussed on Shades of Green Energy Radio
When Dr. John Thoppil, of Cedar Park OB/GYN Associates built a house in Travis County he decided he wanted to power the home with clean renewable solar power from the sun. He had no idea that his homeowners association could prevent him from what seemed like an economic and beneficial idea. After all, his job is to bring babies into this world. It just seems natural that he’d want an economic solution to energy that promotes clean air and a healthier environment. The Texas Legislature is considering measures that would stop homeowners associations from interfering with owners' efforts to erect solar devices, as long as they are on a roof or in fenced-in property.
Tune in to Shades of Green Energy Radio this Thursday at 1 p.m. at 91.7 FM or online at http://www.koop.org/index.php?page=streaming to discuss the pros and cons of solar energy and hear first hand about what motivated Dr. Thoppil to request solar on his home.
