Attend an upcoming budget community conversation!

This post is sponsored by the City of Austin. All Austin Common sponsors are screened by The Austin Common team to ensure they’re doing good for their employees, customers, our community, and the planet.

Austinites are invited to “Your Budget, Your Priorities: Community Conversations with City Manager T.C. Broadnax,” a series of public meetings aimed at gathering input on the City’s budget priorities. During these conversations, Broadnax will also walk through how the City’s budget is developed and highlight some of the key challenges involved.

This effort builds on similar conversations held last year, continuing a push to engage community members earlier in the budgeting process. Broadnax has emphasized that hearing directly from the community helps shape a budget that better reflects Austin’s needs and values.

Each spring, City staff begin identifying both organizational and community needs as they draft the City Manager’s proposed budget, which is presented to City Council in mid-July. After weeks of review, discussion, and potential amendments, the Austin City Council adopts the final budget in mid-August.

These community conversations offer a chance to better understand how the budget process works and to share feedback before priorities are finalized for the fiscal year 2026–27 budget.

Here’s when and where you can join the conversation:
