What's Inside...

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you – our wonderful, EcoNetwork readers. You’re the movers and shakers of your local community. You’re the ones who volunteer, give back, and get involved. You’re the ones who make everything we do here at the Austin EcoNetwork possible… and for that, we are truly thankful.

And for those of you who don’t quite have everything for tomorrow prepped yet, here are some last minute Thanksgiving tips.

Shop local. Austin’s zero waste grocery store, in.gredients, is here to help with this one. They’ll be open from 11am to 3pm on Thanksgiving day for all of your last minute shopping needs.

Keep zero waste principles in mind. With so much food and so many people, hosting a Thanksgiving dinner that doesn’t a produce a lot of trash can seem daunting, but it’s not actually as difficult as it may seem. Try asking your guests to bring their own reusable containers (for leftovers), so no food goes to waste. And if guests are going to help you clean up after dinner, make sure your recycling and composting bins are clearly labeled, so everyone knows what to do.

Eat organic (and healthy) whenever possible.Check out this guide from the Environmental Working Group for more information about the more nutritious and environmentally-friendly Thanksgiving foods.
