One of the best things about the Austin Green Living Expo is that it has GREAT educational opportunities ALL WEEKEND!  April 23-25 at the Austin Convention Center.

Plan to call it an early day … the fun starts Friday afternoon!   The Expo is a one-stop learning opportunity which will feature ORGANIC GARDENING, GREEN BUILDING, RENEWABLE ENERGY, COMPOSTING, FAIR TRADE, and more.  The Expo has 2 main stages, a cooking stage, a kids educational area, film festival and more!!!

Today’s focus … the GREEN BUILDING STAGE:

Here is your opportunity to learn about BUILDING A ZERO ENERGY HOME (Hill Country EcoBuilders), INSTALLING a SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM (Meridian and Texas Solar Power), GEOTHERMAL SYSTEMS for your home or business (American Geothermal), and a variety of building styles like INSULATED CONCRETE FORMS (Mike Pilley Enterprises).

Don’t miss Peter Pfeiffer, FAIA, LEED-AP & NAHB Certified Green Builder of Barley & Pfeiffer Architects as he speaks on the "NUTS & BOLTS APPROACH TO GREEN BUILDING & REMODELING" on Saturday at Noon.   Arrive early as he always packs an audience.

Also speaking on Saturday at 1:30, is Laura Britt, ASID of Laura Britt Design who will discuss SUSTAINABLE MODERN FURNISHINGS & DESIGN – discussing sustainable woods & materials and finishes that will limit off-gassing.

Sunday join us for GREEN BUILDING IN THE REAL WORLD by Wayne Jeansonne of Solluna Builders and 101 WAYS TO GREEN YOUR HOME by Texas Environmental & Restoration.

Saturday & Sunday ~ 11:30 – 1:00 pm
Grab some lunch at Concessions and join Design-Build-Live at the Tables Reserved for D-B-L’s Educational Round Table Discussions.  Each topic will be discussed for approximately 20 minutes (discussion leaders will rotate tables):
* Intro to Natural Wall Systems led by Ken McKenzie-Grant
* Sustainable Water Management led by Michelle Hallahan
* Edible Landscaping led by Kirby Fry
* Energy Efficiency led by Effie Brunson/Gayle Borst
