What's Inside...

Sponsored Post – from Texas Disposal Systems and Garden-Ville

Now that fall is here, it’s time to help your lawn recover from stresses such as heat, drought, and disease brought on by summertime. If fall fertilization is done properly, your grass can now begin to store carbohydrate reserves. This will help resist disease and winter injury and serve as a source of energy for spring growth. Remember, your fertilizer should be applied when your grass has stopped growing or slowed to where it doesn’t need to be mowed.

At Garden-Ville, we offer several options for fall fertilization to suit your particular needs:

  • Nitro Gem® is an easy-to-use, granular fertilizer. Its 7-2-2 formulation helps enrich your soil and promotes lush, green growth.
  • Add a little Elite Lawn compost for vibrant plants and healthy soil. This compost is an aged mix of plant material and bio solids and is wonderfully rich with a wide spectrum of nutrients and microbes. Your lawn will love you for it and you’ll love the results!
  • Top it all off with some of our Lawn Dressing, a premier organic mix of bio solid compost and fine, washed sand. This will not only enhance your lawn health, but will add resilience as well. The sand will help the material work its way into the soil level and build organic matter in the root zone.

While you’re out there, remember to “fluff” up your mulch so it’s not too compacted and add a fresh layer to insulate those roots and retain moisture. We offer several types of mulch, including Red, Black, Native and Hardwood. We also have a fragrant Cedar Mulch with natural insect-repelling properties. And our Living Mulch is a dual-purpose blend of compost and mulch that replicates a nutrient-rich forest floor.

Fall is an ideal time to get out there and enjoy the crisp, clean air while planting those wildflowers, annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs and ornamental plants. This will give them time to establish deep roots during the dormant season. If you have flower beds, you’ll want to top dress them with either compost or our 6-2-2 fertilizer to promote healthy growth and fall blooms. You can also give them a quick spray of Sea Tea to help build resistance to insects and diseases in your plants while fostering healthy development and blooms.

Did You Know?

At Texas Disposal Systems, we are committed to diverting as much as possible from the landfill stream. As a response to this commitment, we are proud of our compost and soil blending operation, established in 1997. The operation uses a “closed-loop” process to divert green waste, brush, tree trimmings, raked leaves, and fruit and vegetable matter including old pumpkins, Christmas trees, and uneaten fruitcake – everything you love about the holidays – from taking up space in our landfill while creating useful, premium-quality, composts, soils, and mulches. These items are then sold throughout Central Texas.

Look for the STA logo and purchase with confidence, knowing we are backed by one of the most respected authorities in compost and soil production.
