Young Sierrans is the group of Sierra Club folks between the ages of 21 and 39-ish. We meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Waller Creek Pub House for socializing, discussion and brainstorming.
6:30-7pm – Happy hour and socializing
7pm – Announcements and program begins
In honor of Earth Day, we have a very special panel for our meeting this month!
One of the Sierra Club’s top national priorities is to build a movement for climate justice that includes all people who live in the United States. This involves a focus on environmental justice, supporting and learning from communities that have often been left behind by mainstream environmental organizations. Earth Day is a perfect time for us to explore what it means to be 21st-century environmentalists building an inclusive movement.
The panel will feature staff and volunteer leaders from Sierra Club’s hard-hitting Beyond Coal campaign, the Lone Star Chapter, and the national Sierra Club – including Sierra Club organizer Dave Cortez, who was named “Best Environmental Activist in Austin” by the Austin Chronicle. Please join us for this not-to-be-missed event!
Consider cycling or taking Cap Metro to the event. Free street parking is available after 6pm on Mondays, but double check signage in your parking area.
