Join us on Friday January 21, 2022 from noon-1pm for a talk with the City of Austin’s Jim O’Donnell about the restoration efforts on City tracts of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve.

Jim is a Forest Ecosystem Biologist for the City of Austin’s Wildland Conservation Division. An important part of Jim’s work is to identify degraded landscapes on City-managed tracts of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve and lead a team of staff and volunteers to restore them to health. Jim will be talking about the restoration methods he uses, including “bioswales,” which promote water infiltration, soil building, reforestation, and carbon sequestration. Community volunteers have been an integral part of these restoration efforts, planting and caring for trees, collecting and sowing native seed, and doing erosion control. Jim’s work was recently recognized by the EPA with top honors for Low Impact Green Infrastructure Improvement.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
