It seems there's a new buzz word floating around: Environmental Justice. But what is it? Is that the same as climate justice? And what are some active projects happening in Austin that you could get involved with?
Come find out on Monday, Feb. 16th at 6 pm in the Gender & Sexuality Center's (GSC) lobby, where a couple of organizers from the Sierra Club will be giving a workshop on environmentalism in Austin.
Dr. Tane Ward, Dave Cortez and Mayte Salazar among others will be reviewing the history of the movement in Austin, the politics of power, the intersection of environmentalism and racism, and how we can organize to elevate and amplify the voices of communities of color.
There will be free pizza and drinks! The GSC is located on the second floor of UT's Student Activity Center in SAC 2.112. Please RSVP to Rocio Villalobos – rocio.villalobos@austin.ut
