Who We Are:

We opened in 2008, in the heart of downtown Austin, just steps from the Convention Center, the Congress Ave. Bridge (famous for its dusk bat watching), and a short walk from the state capitol. We regularly host store events and support local environmental work, including efforts to stop the Trans Pecos pipeline project in southwest Texas.

  • Join us for Happy Hour and a discussion around what happened during the 89th Texas Legislative session and how it impacts Texas rivers, groundwater, our coast, and your water supply.

Our panel of experts will connect the dots on the latest batch of laws that impact Texas Water and describe how they will impact Texas communities and the environment. Share next steps that you should know about; from the election in November to implementation of important laws by state agencies and local governments. We will also cover where the legislature missed the mark on important policies and how we can lay the groundwork to address these in the future.

Issues covered: Water infrastructure funding, water supply, groundwater, desalination, coastal water quality, water recycling, water for the environment were all on the table during the 89th Legislative session.

The discussion will be led by Texas Tribune environmental reporter, Alejandra Martinez. She will be joined by: Jennifer Walker, National Wildlife Federation, Vanessa Puig-Williams, Environmental Defense Fund, Rachel Hanes, Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, Sarah Kirkle, Texas Water Association, Jay Kleberg, Gulf Trust, and Julie Nahrgang of Water Environment Association of Texas.

Complimentary snacks and drinks will be provided.
