The Concho Community Garden is UT Austin’s first community garden. Constructed by volunteers in the Spring of 2011, the garden provides students and staff with the opportunity to grow their own organic produce in plots available for rental. Everything is grown organically, free of synthetic inputs and toxic pest control. Produce harvested from the garden is used for individual consumption and local donation.
Concho welcomes all members of the community to lend a hand in the garden and learn about sustainable gardening practices. No prior gardening experience is required. Please bring a water bottle and sun hat (if desired) and wear closed-toed shoes and casual clothing. We provide sunscreen, bug spray, all necessary tools and equipment.
Individual volunteers are not required to sign up in advance. Groups and organizations are also highly encouraged to attend. If bringing a group of 10 or more, please contact us at gardening@utenvironment.org at least a week in advance. Feel free to email us with any additional questions or suggestions.
