From TreeFolks

TreeFolks tree identification workshops, walks, and hikes aim to teach you how to identify the trees that you see around you every day. In our tree identification activities, we’ll discuss trees common to central Texas, species diversity, wildlife habitat, and tree anatomy. No two tree ID workshops are alike and no matter how much you already know about trees, you’re sure to learn something new each time!

For the mapping intro, we’ll introduce you to our exciting, new OpenTreeMap community tree mapping project. We’ll talk about the value of mapping trees, how to map your trees, and how to share your favorite trees with your friends and community. Then we’ll have some fun trying out the app to map the trees we learned how to ID!

We recommend downloading the OpenTreeMap app on your iPhone, Android, or tablet and setting up a free user account before the mapping intro. To set up an account and explore the TreeFolks Austin Tree Map on your computer, go to www.opentreemap.org/treefolksaustin/map.
