Most people never think twice about their trash; they just throw it “away.” But there is no “away,” and across Texas—and right here in Austin—communities being dumped on or exploited by the waste industry are rising up to demand changes to a system rigged in favor of multinational garbage corporations. About the Public Affairs Forum
The Public Affairs Forum is held at 12 noon on most Sundays in the Sanctuary at First UU, sponsor of the forum. The church is located at 4700 Grover. These one-hour forums are open to the public and admission is free.
Forums include lectures by prominent speakers on a wide variety of topics – social equity, politics, environmental issues, science, community action initiatives, and others. Most forum events allow time for the audience to ask questions of the speaker. The presentation is videotaped, edited and broadcast on ChannelAustin TV cable channel 10 at 6 p.m. on Sundays.
