Do you count yourself among the supporters of the local food community and the farmers and ranchers it depends on? Want to hear about their experiences and what we can all do to help build and sustain our shared community? Fancy some locally sourced and prepared food and drink? Then please join us at Green Gate Farms on Saturday April 13th for the first annual Texas Young Farmer Coalition (TXYFC) Fundraiser!

Purchase Tickets Here

General Admission: $30

TXYFC acts as a medium for building connections between young farmers throughout the state in an ongoing effort to encourage the exchange of ideas and the creation of synergistic relationships. We strive to achieve this through developing a real world community of young and established farmers, encouraging farm education, cultivating relationships between farmers and workers, and by promoting advocacy at the city, state, and national level.

With generous donations from Winters Family Beef, RRR Ranch, Madroño Ranch, Green Gate Farms, Tecolote Farm, and other members of our wonderful farming community we’ll be preparing a big ole Texas BBQ for your culinary pleasure. Additionally, in order to wet the collective whistle, Split Rail Ales has brewed 20 gallons of cider and we’ll have another 20 gallons of ales by Landlocked Surfer Brewing.

Here’s a rough look at the menu (details and additions to follow):

· Whole Suckling Pig

· Brisket and Ribeye Roll

· “Texas Stew” with Bison and Pinto Beans

· Cornbread

· A variety of veggie dishes using local produce

· Assorted Pickled Vegetables (Romanesco cauliflower, carrots, celery, beets)

Ciders: Peach/Apple with local honey; Spiced Pomegranate/Apple

Ales: Texas Spiced Farmhouse Ale, Greenbelt Flight IPA, Austin Brown Ale, Holy Honey Cream Ale

*Ciders and BBQ by Split Rail Ales and Field and Fare *Ales by Landlocked Surfer Brewing

*Sourcing details for the food will be provided in the menu/program distributed at the event

In an effort to support and promote young farmers the majority of the proceeds for the event will go directly to Cardo’s Farm Project located in Denton, TX. Founded in 2010, Cardo’s is a community farm and education center that serves the Denton Community by providing healthy food grown in harmony with the natural environment, and farm-based educational opportunities. So come feast, drink, build community, learn a thing or two from some farming folk, and be generally merry with us while we raise funds for some deserving young farmers!

We encourage folks to bring chairs/blankets and your favorite drinking vessel (we’ll have a limited number of mason jars), and to come prepped for good times out in the fresh air. No dogs please; too many animals out and about. A rowdy thanks for all your support and we hope to see everyone on April 13th!
