This year Texans will elect a new commissioner to the state agency that is responsible for regulating pollution from oil and gas development to uranium and coal mining. Join the conversation on how we can make this agency more accountable to the people of Texas – not just special interests.

At the Candidates Forum on May 27, participants will learn the viewpoints and positions of candidates Chrysta Castaneda (confirmed), Roberto Alonzo (confirmed) and James Wright (not confirmed yet). You are invited to participate and may register here: https://bit.ly/RegisterRRCCandidatesForum

The mission of the Railroad Commission of Texas is to serve Texas by stewardship of natural resources and the environment, protection of personal and community safety, and support of enhanced development and economic vitality for the benefit of Texans. Ignoring their mission, the Commission has allowed toxic waste, air and water pollution, and the corporate abuse of eminent domain to affect people across the state. Incumbent commissioners regularly receive campaign contributions from the same companies they regulate. They rarely declare conflicts of interest when making punitive decisions over companies they have a stake in.

The Railroad Commission is one of the most important environmental regulators in Texas, and now is the time to make sure the agency is accountable to the people, not big polluters.
