Smart Inverters and the Future of Grid Management

Residential and commercial solar generation has grown exponentially in the United States over the past decade.  With the growth of distributed solar generation across the country, the need for grid management solutions is becoming necessary in order to control the “intermittent” power generation that comes from solar arrays.   To prevent stressing the electric grids in regions with high solar penetration, new “smart inverters” are being requested in states such as Hawaii and California to help balance the electric loads.  Come learn about the background of smart inverters and get perspective on the “Grid of the Future”, which will be necessary in areas of high solar development.
