We will be meeting to discuss, “Adventures with a Texas Naturalist” by Roy Bedichek. After going to a middle school named after the author and having the book suggested for me to read by Austin Sierra Clubbers and Dr. Kevin M. Anderson of the Austin Water Center for Environmental Research, I am excited to finally get to read this book.
The author was a wealth of knowledge and lived in the Austin area. After much encouragement from his friends J. Frank Dobie (UT professor) and W.P. Webb (author), he wrote this book and another. He is immortalized in statue form with his buddies he’d talk to at Barton Springs, Webb and Dobie. Goodreads.com, describes the book as:
“A classic since its first publication in 1947, Adventures with a Texas Naturalist distills a lifetime of patient observations of the natural world.”
Most of everything in the book is centered around Central Texas.
After each book club meeting, we discuss and decide the next book club book, so come with suggestions!
