As dense, pedestrian-friendly, amenity-rich, non-auto centric, areas are proving to be the most sustainable forms of human habitat, it is important for us to cherish the channels of nature that run through them. Now that people are seeing the perils that suburban lifestyle are placing on our environment and are moving back to the city, it is more important than ever to keep our parks in pristine condition. After all, this is now our backyard. Please join us for a fun filled day in Downtown Austin, Texas where we will remove debris from Shoal Creek, starting at Cesar Chavez and working our way North to 5th Street.
Location: Intersection of W 3rd St. and West Ave., 78701
Parking: Available metered spaces are free on weekends; closest lots are on 5th and Bowie St.; and 5th and Nueces St.
Note: Well-behaved, people-friendly, dogs are welcome. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and a pair of work gloves if you have them. We are working with local retailers to supply additional beverage choices as well as snacks. We encourage children 12 and up to lend a hand and advise parents and guardians of children under 12 to visit the site prior to signing up to see if they feel comfortable with the grade of some of the slopes. Due to the nature of this area we ask that adults bring no more than one child per adult.
