Join us for this week’s edition of “Shades of Green”, Austin’s only live, green talk radio program, on KOOP 91.7 FM and streaming at www.koop.org!
This week, we will discuss the hot topic of Austin’s rideshare program that includes companies like Uber and Lyft. The City Council recently voted to enact safety standards that will ensure fingerprint-based background checks, which were heavily contested by this industry, citing it could reduce jobs and ride access for Austinites.
We’ll welcome Austin City Councilmembers Ann Kitchen (District 5), Chair of Austin’s Mobility Committee, and Delia Garza (District 2), both of whom have led the charge from the dais.
We’ll also welcome Jennifer Houlihan with Keep Ridesharing in Austin and Sara Levine with ATX Safer Streets to give the opposing view.
