“Shades of Green” Environmental Talk Radio on KOOP 91.7 (Bob Cash–TransPacific Partnership (TPP))

November 21 @ 1:49 pm

Please join co-hosts John Hoffner, Reed Sternberg, & Stacy Guidry for this week's edition of "Shades of Green", Austin's only live, environmental talk show, on KOOP 91.7FM and streaming at www.koop.org!

Thursday's program will feature 2 big issues: Water and the TransPacific Partnership (TPP)–

Our first guest will be Sharlene Leurig, the Producer and Writer for Our Desired Future, a multimedia project to educate Texans on the interconnections between water above and below ground and what Texans can do to keep water flowing for future generations. Sharlene is Director of the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Program at Ceres, a national nonprofit working to advance the integration of sustainability into the global financial markets. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Hill Country Alliance and is Chair of the Austin Integrated Resource Planning Community Task Force. Leurig has appeared on APM's Marketplace and On Point with Tom Ashbrook, and has written for numerous publications, including High Country News, Texas Monthly, National Geographic Water Currents, Bloomberg BNA and the Texas A&M Journal of Real Property Law.  Website: http://www.ourdesiredfuture.com

Our 2nd guest will be Bob Cash, Executive Director of the Texas Fair Trade Coalition. The group is an affiliate of the Citizens Trade Campaign, and is a diverse, nonpartisan coalition of labor, environmental, community, family farm, religious, and human rights organizations. Since its founding in 2002, TFTC has been on the forefront of efforts to educate Texans about the impact of trade on their lives and on the world around them. We have also worked to turn the growing awareness of the dangers of corporate-led globalization into real democratic action for change. Our member organizations are united in a common fight against harmful NAFTA-model trade agreements. We support trade reform that is fair to workers, the environment, family farmers and public health, here and around the world.
