Help foster a brighter, healthier future for children in Central Texas through school gardens. This 2-part training at the Sustainable Food Center is for teachers, parents, and community members interested in starting (or reviving) and sustaining a school garden. We will share the key components to a successful garden, including: creating a plan, organizing and building your garden team, site selection and basic design, managing the garden, and finding funds and resources to sustain the garden. We won’t be covering basic gardening principles, but we can point you to a variety of related resources (including our gardening classes). You’ll also hear from a long-time school gardener guest speaker and meet other school gardeners in the Austin area.
