From the Sustainable Food Center –

Help make lessons and concepts come alive in the garden! This free 2-part Sustainable Food Center training is for teachers, parents, and community members who would like to build their skills in using the school garden as an outdoor classroom using garden-themed lessons. Each night will cover different content, so please plan to attend both nights. This training will be co-led by peer facilitators who are long-time school gardeners and have years of experience managing school gardens in the Austin Area. Peer facilitators will share classroom management best practices and a variety of TEKS-aligned K-12 lessons and activities for different subjects to engage students in hands-on learning outdoors.

– Class participants must be 16 and older. Youth ages 12-15 may attend with close parent/guardian supervision during class.
– CEU credit hours provided through AISD
– Childcare available by request (request must be made up to 2 weeks before the event).
– Snacks will be provided.
– Registration closes three business days before class. All attendees must register to attend.
