Come learn about the sweetest part of beekeeping–harvesting honey and wax! In this class you will learn how to extract honey from a hive without the use of expensive, bulky extractors. We will teach you how to identify when and how much to harvest, and then do a live demonstration of several methods for extracting, filtering, and bottling your honey to ensure most of the pollen and healthy enzymes remain in the honey.
We will also demonstrate how to render beeswax and leave you with lots of ideas to make your own lip balms, salves, and candles. This class is perfect for beekeepers and non-beekeepers alike, and everyone will leave with a jar of honey and a beeswax product made by the Two Hives Honey beehives here in Austin!
