An event every day that begins at 6:00 pm, repeating until October 2, 2019
This 2-part Sustainable Food Center training is for teachers, parents, and community members interested in starting (or reviving) and sustaining a school or a community garden. If you are a teacher, you may attend for free; please register directly by emailing mehmling@sustainablefoodcenter.org. 5 additional need-based scholarships (non-teacher) are available; please email to request a spot.
Each training night will cover different content, so please plan to attend both nights. We will share the key components to a successful garden, including: organizing and building a strong garden team, creating a plan, site selection and basic design, managing the garden, and finding funds and resources to sustain the garden. You will also hear from a guest speaker and meet other school and community gardeners in the area. We won’t be covering basic gardening principles, but we can point you to relevant resources.
