Entrepreneurs are used to pitching their business idea to investors, partners, and anyone they might share an elevator ride with. In this competition, the tables turn. The [Re]Verse Pitch Competition is a social innovation program to help turn valuable raw materials that are currently leaving local businesses, non-profits, and institutions as waste into the foundation of new social enterprises.
During this opening pitch event, the competition will kick off when businesses and institutions with byproduct or surplus materials pitch their materials to entrepreneurs that could put these materials to higher and better use in new social enterprises.
In the weeks that follow, entrepreneurs will be matched with mentors and have access to technical advisors to help create and refine business ideas reusing the byproducts pitched at the opening event, leading up to a final pitch on December 6th. Learn more about the competition at http://reversepitch.org.
This event is presented as part of SXSWEco, the premier global event for innovators and drivers of social, economic, and environmental change.
Come to the opening event learn more about these products, meet the material suppliers, and network with other [Re]Verse Pitch participants.
This event is free and open to the public, but your RSVP is requested. SXSWEco badges are not required for admission. Entrepreneurs planning to compete for an Innovation Prize are required to attend this event to move on in the competition.
