When disaster strikes, people across Austin need trusted community spaces to meet basic needs. When paired with ongoing emergency planning, disaster response, and sheltering plans, a Resilience Hub Network can help provide relief during extreme weather events and other emergencies. At the same time, the network can build community resilience day-to-day by leveraging existing partnerships and providing services that strengthen and empower individuals to thrive.
The City of Austin is working with the Austin Independent School District, Travis County, and other community partners to build this network. The
Resilience Hub Network Project aims to pilot six hubs in the Eastern Crescent during 2022. Future plans include building a larger network of hubs to serve the greater community.
Community Powered Workshop is facilitating the engagement process for the six pilot hubs.
Resilience Hubs are trusted spaces that meet community needs before, during, and after extreme weather events and build community resilience day-to-day. Your input will help identify places that can support Resilience Hubs and ensure that these spaces are designed and programmed to meet community needs.
