Owned and operated by the City of Austin, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is the second-fastest growing, mid-sized airport in the United States. Austin-Bergstrom is also an economic engine in Central Texas, supplying over 74,000 direct and indirect jobs in the Central Texas region.
Following a scoping phase & public comment period last fall, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) has finalized its Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) in support of the Airport Expansion and Development Program (AEDP), which guides construction and development at the airport over the next five to seven years. The EA is a review process guided by National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) that will assess potential impacts to the environment associated with airport construction projects. Once completed, the Environmental Assessment will be submitted to the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) for review and approval.
From now until April 7, 2022, Austin and Travis County residents can review the Draft EA, which is now available online at SpeakUpAustin.org/AUS-EA (or in print at the below locations), and submit comments. Comments are submitted through the project website, mail or at one of the upcoming public meetings. Comments and their responses will be included in the final Draft EA that will be presented to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Print copies of the Draft EA are available at the following locations:
AUS is hosting a virtual public meeting for community members to learn more about the Draft Environmental Assessment, ask questions to the project team & provide their comments on the EA. Please join us and submit your comments before the deadline on April 7. Spanish interpretation will be provided.
