Public Hearing on Proposed 10-Year Energy Plan for Austin

We’re organizing to put energy decisions in the hands of communities across Austin.

Record drought. Record flooding. Record wildfire. The impacts of climate disruption on Central Texans, our environment, and our economy are clear.

On Thursday May 29th from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at City Hall, the Austin Energy Generation Plan Task Force will listen to your thoughts and ideas about our 10 year goals renewable energy and energy conservation, our reliance on polluting fossil fuels like coal and fracked gas, and programs to assist families most impacted by high electricity bills.

Task Force members will propose the day before, on May 28th at 2:30 pm (City Hall), their first round of individual recommendations for our energy plan. Join your fellow Austinites as we gather to stand together in support of ideas that make strong action on climate a priority, that address our ongoing water crisis, create markets for well-paying clean economy jobs, make electricity more affordable, and help clean our air.

What is the Austin Energy Generation Plan Task Force?
The Austin Generation Resource Planning Task Force shall examine and make recommendations regarding the Generation Plan 2024, consistent with meeting or exceeding the goals established in the Generation Plan 2020.

The Task Force shall dissolve upon the Council’s adoption of an updated generation plan or on December 21, 2014, whichever occurs first.

The Task Force will meet weekly through the end of June 2014. They meet every Wednesday at 2:30pm unless otherwise noted below or noted on posted agendas.
