Our monthly Austin Sierra Club meeting will be online via Zoom.
We’ll start off with Announcements on current events… Tonite’s main program is Investing in Solar Power in Poor Countries, with Sandra Kwak of 10Power.
Recently recognized by the Energy Globe Foundation as the Energy Globe National Award winner for the country of Haiti, 10Power invests in renewable energy projects that can be paid back over time, providing access to clean power in the places that need it most. Solar Photovoltaics provide clean water and power to some of the poorest communities in the world, building distribution hubs for sustainable development.
10Power works together with local partners to develop and finance commercial-scale solar projects in Haiti. It views renewable energy as the key to provide access to clean water, gender empowerment, livelihood improvement, education and technology.
Executive strategist and systems thinker, Sandra Kwak, CEO and Founder, is applying disruptive innovation to create a regenerative future. Before launching 10Power, she scaled AutoGrid from prototype to a global brand, creating automated intelligence out of big data from the smart grid. Prior, as Co-Founder / President / COO of energy efficiency company Powerzoa, she brought building management hardware and software tools to market. Sandra has also served as CEO of a software company producing the world’s first mathematically lossless video codec.
Sandra has an MBA in Sustainable Business from Presidio Graduate School and a BA in Political Science and Visual Art from Emory University. She is a native of Austin and former Austin Montessori School student. Her TED talk on Fourth World Nation Building is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h60J8hErSFY
