Organized by activists with 350-Austin, Austin Environmental Justice Team (ATXEJ), Texas Drought Project, Texas Climate Action, WildEarth Climate Action Team (Wildflower Church), and more.
WHAT: Training about skill-sets and considerations of planning and doing nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience for protests and strategic campaigns, primarily for activists of beginner and intermediary experience levels. The majority of organizations offering this training are focused on climate action and environmental justice; The skills covered are cross-applicable to supporting any number of justice struggles. We are motivated by a goal of growing our community networks and capacities to take action for defending our city, state, communities/neighbors, with strength and solidarity.

SIZE: Minimum of 20 and maximum of 50 participants
COSTS & ACCOMMODATIONS: We are operating with limited funds and capacities, but we will do our best to make these trainings accommodating and accessible. Please inform us if you need childcare, language translators, audio or visual aids, avoidance of certain allergens, or other particular amenities in order to fully participate.
*** In order to fairly compensate our trainers and offer food, we are requesting a donation of $10 or more (sliding scale). No one will be turned away for lack of donating, but we ask that you seek sponsorship support if you can’t spare $10 yourself.
