Making Austin Walkable: An Evening with Jeff Speck
110 people move to Austin each and every day. They come from all over the world, seeking top notch employment, cultural and recreational opportunities. And it is no secret that many of these people as well as current Austinites express an overwhelming desire to live in walkable areas. To have all the amenities Austin has to offer within a short distance of their home. It is becoming increasingly apparent that a city’s walkability will have a major influence on the city’s competitiveness in the near future. What exactly do we mean when we talk walkability and how do we get there for Austin? Let’s work on it together.
