M Station: The Ultimate in Affodable Housing and Green Building
This affordable housing development created by Foundation Communities is a model for green apartment construction, located across from the new MLK train station on the Cap Metro Red Line. In addition to all the transit connections, they are pushing the envelope on some green building/lifestyle features. They think they will be LEED Platinum/Austin Energy 5 star. All stormwater captured for irrigation, rather than water detention/retention. Landscaping meets new Sustainable Sites guidelines. All the HVAC will be an inverter system by building…which allows them to be 100% solar/wind (greenchoice) and much more efficient.
The groundbreaking program/party is Wednesday, May 12
The program is 4-5 followed by a neighborhood block party from 5-8.
