  • The site of today’s Pease District Park was part of the 365-acre Woodlawn homestead owned by former Texas Governor E. M. Pease and his wife, Lucadia. Although Governor Pease supported the Union during the Civil War, research has found that at least 37 individuals were directly enslaved or leased as enslaved labor by the Pease family. This tour recognizes and shares some of the stories of a few of these people.

You can register to attend here.

    WHAT TO EXPECT:
This tour will include about 1.5 miles of walking and learning about this history from our tour guides, Donovan and Julia. If you have concerns about this walk, please contact us at info@peasepark.org for assistance.
