Juntos de Nuevo: The Grand Reopening of the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center

Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment is honored to invite you to celebrate the long-awaited reopening of the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB MACC)—a space deeply rooted in community, culture, and the vibrant traditions that shape Austin.
After nearly three years of thoughtful renovation and expansion, the ESB-MACC welcomes the community back with Juntos de Nuevo—a day of reconnection, celebration, and cultural expression. This family-friendly event is open to all, with no tickets or RSVPs required.
Highlights include:
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Welcome remarks & ribbon cutting
12:00 PM – 9:00 PM:
- Live music and performances on the outdoor stage under the Zócalo
- Tours of the new and renovated spaces
- Hands-on arts, dance, music, theater, and culinary workshops for all ages
- Free children’s art activities in the new youth classrooms
- Exhibitions in the Community Gallery and the Sam Z. Coronado Gallery
- Community Resource Fair featuring local nonprofits
- Artisan market highlighting local Latino/a/e entrepreneurs
- Food trucks throughout the day
This reopening is more than a milestone—it is a celebration of identity, creativity, and the enduring cultural legacy of Austin’s communities.
