The ride starts at 10am this Saturday, 6/19. We will meet at the Texas African American History Memorial at the Texas Capitol at 11th and Congress (inside the gate). There are no tickets or RSVP’s required, just a desire to ride and learn black history with a large group of cyclists.
It will be hot out, so please bring water and hydrate beforehand. We also recommend wearing a helmet and sunscreen.
Please take care of yourself and look out for your friends and fellow riders.
We’ll have refill stations with water and snacks along the route run by our volunteers and sponsored by Pura Coco and Clean Cause.
Huge thank you to the
@ridebikesaustin team, who created a fun 9 mile bike route for this event! They will be assisting us at corners and giving traffic safety directions. They will be wearing brightly colored shirts. There are some hills (it’s still Austin, ya’ll), but we will regroup regularly and move at a comfortable pace for everyone. We pre-rode the course yesterday and it felt much easier than last year’s route.
We will have 5 amazing guest speakers, each one speaking at a different stop along the route. Stops will be around 15 minutes. Our midway stop will be a bit longer.
We’ve had an outpouring of support for this event: Mellow Johnny’s is providing their repair truck at the beginning and midway point, Major Taylor Central Texas and Austin Bike Farm are providing SAG vehicles, and Code 4 Medical will graciously be providing medical SAG support.
If you need to rent a bike! Use the code BHBR at

Per CDC guidelines, adults who are fully vaccinated are allowed to resume outdoor activities without masks. Wearing a mask and social distancing is very cool.
