Downs-Jones Library at Huston-Tillotson University wants to invite you to celebrate Juneteenth 2020!
The Downs-Jones Library & Archives present, “Juneteenth 2020: Growing Your Roots During a Global Pandemic Using Genealogy as a Progressive Tool”.

Danielle’ McGhee, M.L.S. , Director of the Downs-Jones Library and Library Archivist at Huston-Tillotson University, will be facilitating this year’s Juneteenth event. This event will feature a presentation by kYmberly Keeton, African American Community Archivist & Librarian, M.L.S., C.A. in the Austin History Center, Austin Public Library.

We want to commemorate June 19, 1865, the day the last group of enslaved African Americans emancipated. We will focus on our ancestry and genealogy during this event. Let us celebrate African American freedom, resistance, education, empowerment, and achievement together!

This event is open to everyone, including Huston-Tillotson University faculty, staff, students, and the broader community outside of the university.
