Brookings Institute fellow to visit Austin
Imagine Austin Speaker Series: Development Trends Toward Walkable Urbanism
How can Austin capitalize on new market opportunities in real estate development to create vibrant and walkable neighborhoods?
Christopher Leinberger, a real estate developer and visiting fellow at the Brookings Institute, will share his thoughts on this topic during a visit to Austin this month.
Imagine Austin, the City’s comprehensive plan adopted by the City Council in June, calls for a city of “complete communities” where residents can meet their everyday needs close to their homes, jobs, and schools. In a complete community, residents can walk to buy groceries and easily access nearby public transportation. Leinberger’s presentation will address how communities benefit economically by building walkable places.
Street parking is available at no cost after 6 p.m. and bicycle parking is available on site.
