Home Is Here: A Concert For Casa Marianella

“Home Is Here” is the second annual gathering of Austin musicians benefitting Casa Marianella, a local shelter for men, women, and children fleeing terror, torture, and political persecution in their home countries. Performers this year include Shakey Graves, Shawn Colvin, Nina Diaz (of Girl in a Coma), Eritrean musicians Yowhannes Tquab (aka Wedi Tikabo) and Tekle Mezghebe, and special guests. Casa Marianella has been in Austin since 1986, starting with a single house and growing into a network of shelters providing safe refuge, legal support, medical assistance, and educational opportunities to thousands of people from countries such as Venezuela, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Afghanistan, Cuba, and Russia. Casa helps them rebuild their lives and find a new place in the world. For many of them, home is here in Austin, Texas.

The funds from this year’s concert will go to support Casa’s legal clinic, which is very busy these days.
