We’re proud to announce an interactive virtual storytime featuring a live reading of the newly published Hey Sis! Be You! comic book. The comic tells the story of the first Black woman President, Grace, and strives to embolden and empower Black girls everywhere to be their most authentic, beautiful, and awesome selves.
Hey Sis! Be You! is a part of MEASURE’s Innocence Initiative, a multi-part effort to eliminate the adultification of Black girls, one of the most underreported issues in social justice, and provide parents with resources to effectively advocate for their daughters. In all areas of life—school, work, and beyond, Black girls are treated and viewed differently than peers of other races from as early as age 5.
Join us on Saturday, August 22nd at 6pm as some of our own Austin Black women superstars bring this original and important tale to life during a virtual read-along called “Hey Sis! It’s Storytime!” We’ll also be hosting breakout groups where you can connect with other listeners, engage in meaningful family conversations, and inspire Black Girl Magic. You don’t want to miss this special and timely gathering.
