From the Save Barton Creek Association –
Join us on July 8th for happy hour with Jamie Green, Development and Operations Coordinator for Austin Youth River Watch, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at The Tavern on W 12th street. She will be speaking about their innovative programming for high school students that combines environmental education and peer mentoring.
Austin Youth River Watch allows high school students to collect, analyze, and publish water-quality data from streams and rivers in Austin. Students have the opportunity to present their findings to local and state agencies. This program is led by a volunteer Board of community leaders, who seek to transform and inspire the underserved youth through environmental education, community engagement, and adventure. Such efforts empower youth to create positive outcomes for the environment and themselves.
Jamie’s professional experience has been centered around empowering at-risk youth, working with agencies focusing on school-based case management, foster care and adoption, and a residential treatment center.
Together we’ll learn more about the Austin Youth River Watch directly from its Development and Operations coordinator, Jamie!
