Father’s Day Weekend Green Picnic Brunch
South Steps of the State Capitol
Saturday, 20 Jun 2009, 10:00 AM
This is THE key event in June and is the icing on the cake of our Green Energy Campaign. WHY? Because the American Clean Energy and Security Bill, is set for a vote on June 26, and needs to be stronger to keep our environment green. WHAT PART DO YOU PLAY? We will have letters for you to sign to send to our District 25 congressman, Lloyd Doggett. THE PICNIC? Bring your own food and drink to a gathering of MoveOn members and Austin environmental groups. In addition to our citizen actions, we will have family activities for kids and an opportunity for father’s to leave a Father’s Day oral history – by recording their wishes for the future and memories of outdoor experiences. Zero Waste is the order of the day: plan to recycle compost and leave no trash behind.
Message from host: This family friendly event will showcase Austin’s Green Votes. Please wear your environmental message tee-shirts and bring children and neighbors. If you want to picnic, bring your own food, drink and ground cloth – this is an informal event and it is totally up to us to make it happen. Be sure to bring water, sun hats and sun screen – it is likely to be hot!! Our event will set up at 9:30 a.m. and be finished by 1:00 p.m. We will leave the Capitol grounds as we find them – clean and clear of trash – please expect to help clean it up. Thanks!!

This location is a public place for citizens to use but it is not a place to sell things or advertise – let’s all be mindful of our role as good, clean, green voters and help make a lasting and positive impression on our elected officials!
