Austin Resource Recovery presents Fix-It at Home!, a FREE interactive, online workshop series aimed at teaching Austinites repair and maintenance skills from home. Classes range from learning sewing basics and ‘patching’ up clothes, to fixing recreational equipment and household appliances.
This class is for anyone looking for guidance on how to start fixing common holes and tears in clothing. If you can thread a needle or use an iron, you can learn with us! We’ll cover helpful supplies and demonstrate techniques to repair holes and tears on woven clothing, like button-down shirts or pants, and knit clothing, like T-shirts or sweaters. Our instructor will share tips for how to make repairs as close to invisible as possible
Meet the Instructor! Kat Davis is a former theatrical costumer who has sewn, altered, and repaired clothing for over 15 years. She loves to share textile care and repair skills to keep everyone’s favorite clothes in great shape.
