Free Class: The Organic Arsenal – Pest Control Products for Organic Gardeners

Tuesday, January 30th at 10am –Trisha Shirey, Director of Flora and Fauna at Lake Austin Spa Resort (lakeaustin.com/spa-resort), presents “The Organic Arsenal – Pest Control Products for Organic Gardeners.”
The vegetables in our home garden are a source of delicious nutrition for us, our family – and the pests! However, with a few products and some time-tested techniques, we can deal with any garden pest. Trisha will share some of her favorite organic pest control solutions, including non-chemical items like insect barriers and plants that act as traps.
Trisha Shirey has managed the grounds of Lake Austin Spa Resort organically for over 30 years. The 19-acre site has herb and vegetable gardens, fruit trees, and edible flowers that are used by the resort kitchens and sometimes the spa! You have seen her on KLRU’s Central Texas Gardener program as she shares tips in the Backyard Basics segment. Garden Design Magazine included the Lake Austin Spa Resort gardens in their list of “Top Ten Spa Gardens of the World.” And now, Trisha has just authored the book, The Timber Press Guide to Vegetable Gardening in the Southwest, and she will be signing copies for us!
