• Guest Speaker: Greg Casar, District 4 Council Member

Gregorio “Greg” Casar is a native Texan, the son of Mexican immigrants, and an Austin City Council Member representing District 4 for his second term. Greg’s priorities include social equity, shared prosperity, affordability, environmental stewardship, and public safety for all.

Casar was the lead sponsor for Austin’s Paid Sick Days ordinance, which gives every private sector employee in the city limits the right to earn a significant amount of paid sick time. The Austin American-Statesman called it “the most progressive local labor policy in Texas and the American South.”

Gregorio “Greg” Casar es originario de Texas, hijo de inmigrantes mexicanos y actualmente Concejal del Distrito 4 en su segundo periodo de mandato. Las prioridades de Greg incluyen la equidad social, prosperidad compartida, accesibilidad/asequibilidad, la procuración ambiental y la seguridad pública para todxs.

Casar fue el principal impulsor de Austin’s Paid Sick Days ordinance, conocida como la ordenanza de los días pagados por enfermedad. Esta ley otorga a todxs los empleadxs del sector privado en los límites de la ciudad el derecho a recibir una remuneración por el tiempo pagado por enfermedad. Austin American-Statesman lo señala como “la política laboral local más progresista en Texas y en el sur de los Estados Unidos”.
