  • Meet us at 6:30pm at Chicano Park for a relaxed sunset walk + talk with Austin Bat Refuge. We will leave for our walk no later than 6:45pm, ending at Congress Avenue Bridge. The route is beginner-friendly: mostly flat and paved. We will get a chance to learn ALL ABOUT Austin’s Bats on our walk and at the bridge. Come prepared with a bottle of water. (for walking!)

According to Austin Bat Refuge, for the last six years the bats flew anywhere from 7:45pm – 8:20pm. We will be staying until they fly, but folks are welcome to head back at any time.

This is a great opportunity to connect with others who care about local conservation and supporting sustainable initiatives. All are welcome, but for the safety of the bats, we ask that everyone leave their animal friends at home.

Parking Advice: There is limited street parking near Chicano Park – we like parking at Festival Beach and walking over. There is usually plenty of street parking near Fiesta Gardens.

This event is part of Austin’s Eat for Impact initiative, where we’re bringing the city’s residents together around food and climate action all April-long. This campaign is designed to highlight climate-friendly eating and environmental action with free events and activations designed to educate and inspire. Sign up here to learn more!
